Networking Troubleshooting

Networking is critical to the success of the Point of Sale.

Without a solid network, it is impossible to print tickets, open the cash draw and sync the POS between the devices.
Important: Internet and Network are different. The local network is all that is needed for printing.

There are 3 key elements to check:

  1. WiFi
Make sure that the iPad or device is connected to the Correct WiFi. In many cases, Staff may connect to Free WiFi when the internet is down. It is important that staff DO NOT change the Default WiFi. UniPOS records the WiFi ID needed. If the customer has Meraki, Open Mesh or Ubiquiti, we may be able to reset their WiFI networking remotely.
  2. Ethernet/Cabling/Switch
The next step is to check that the Ethernet cables are firmly secured into the devices which are wired. Layer 1 lights on the devices (Green/Orange lights on the device) are good indications that there is some connectivity. With some printers (TM-82ii and TM-T20) the end user may need to disconnect and reconnect the cable to see these lights.
  3. Router
Finally the router is the "Brain" of the network. In some cases, restarting the router will fix a lot of problems.
If problems continue to occur with your network, this often steps from a router failure.
